New Zealand plans to invest $3 billion to build a fertilizer plant.

An Australian company plans to spend $3 billion to build a large fertilizer production base in Nanda. The project aims to convert lignite into urea, so as to reduce New Zealand's dependence on urea imports. Victorian Hydrogen proposes to land the factory near Inver cargill. After the project is put into production, the annual output of urea can reach 1.5 million tons, and the production capacity far exceeds the total local urea production in New Zealand. The urea project in New Zealand focuses on long-term self-sufficiency. At present, the country imports about 500,000 tons of urea every year. The local output is about 265,000 tons, but the decline of natural gas supply threatens the future output.
